This week's theme is: Cooking

Word List 3

1. blend: to mix together
2. measure: use a tool to find out the size or weight
3. texture: the feel of the material
4. mixture: a combination of ingredients

Monday Activities

1. On Week One, we suggested you purchase a notebook. You will be keeping your weekly words, definitions and assignments in this notebook.
2. Write each word and definition in your vocabulary book. Practice saying your words with a grown up to make sure you are pronouncing them correctly.
3. Create your own sentence using each word and write this in your vocabulary notebook. We have provided samples below to get you started.

Use the daily activities to help you remember words that you learn each week. It is much easier to remember what the words mean if you do something with them and use them frequently in talking with your parents, family and friends.

Sample sentences:

To make a cake, blend the ingredients together.
Blend the batter with an electric mixer.

Measure out the flour and sugar when baking.
The recipe said to measure one cup of milk to add to the batter.

Mix it until the texture is smooth.
The texture of the mix can be lumpy.

I bought the mixture for the cookies at the store.
I just have to add one egg to the mixture to make pancakes.
