This week's theme is: Vacation

Word List 1

1. resort: A place to gather with friends and relax.
2. content: happy and satisfied
3. compare: To look very closely at how things are alike.
4. contrast: To look very closely at how things are different.

Tuesday Activities

1. Make Flashcards - Write the word on one side of an index card and put the definition and a sentence on the opposite side. Some games that you can play with flashcards are: Hold up the definition and have your child say the vocabulary word that matches that definition. Hold up the word side and have your child make up a sentence using that word and saying the definition.
2. You can also make flashcards online and then print them out. You can find ideas for making flashcards on the Internet by clicking on this link
3. Write your vocabulary words in alphabetical order in your vocabulary notebook. Write your own definition beside each word.

Use the daily activities to help you remember words that you learn each week. It is much easier to remember what the words mean if you do something with them and use them frequently in talking with your parents, family and friends.

Sample sentences:

My family and i went to a resort by the ocean.
We looked at many resorts before deciding on the best place.

We were very content with our resort choice.
After a delicious meal my mom cooked, I was very content.

When I go to the grocery I compare the cereals to see which is healthy.
I took a long time to compare the 2 pair of shoes.

The temperature contrast between the North and the South is very clear.
