Grade 5-6: Vocabulary Lesson for Tuesday, Week 12

This week's theme is: Personality


Word List 12

  1. efficient: Acoomplishing a purpose without wasting time
  2. arrogant: Feeling more important that others.
  3. cordial: Warm and sincere.
  4. unruly: Lacking restraint, rebels against authority.
  5. precise: Exact, following the rules.
  6. monotonous: Boring, lacking in variety.
  7. vibrant: Exhibits charm and is animated.

Tuesday Activities

  1. Create your own stacks of flashcards using this site. Register for free, then create your note cards. Type in your vocabulary words and then the definition.
  2. Write your vocabulary words in alphabetical order in your vocabulary notebook. Write your own definition beside each word.
  3. Create your own pocket personal organizer - From the list on the left, click and drag the cards you wish to have in your organizer. We suggest you pick one page from the calendar section and one from the organizer section. The others are your free choice. Fill in the pages with your vocabulary words and definitions along with any other information you wish to share, such as This Day in History. You can also choose a couple of games to add that you can play during the day. Follow the direction after printing to fold it up and keep it in your pocket for a quick study review..

Use the daily activities to help you remember words that you learn each week. It is much easier to remember what the words mean if you do something with them and use them frequently in talking with your parents, family and friends.

I enjoy challenging myself: how efficient I can be.
Man is always coming up with new and more efficient ways of doing things.

I though he was arrogant unreasonably, and very obnoxious.
I guess I should apologize because that sounds arrogant.

Some teachers were found to be more cordial by students.
He was very much a gentleman and very cordial.

An unruly passenger caused a flight to be diverted.
She pulled her unruly hair back into a knot.

He had no clue about his precise location.
The teacher liked his precise concentration.

The bell went off and snapped me out of my boredom from Alice's monotonous voice.
Exercising the same way every day can be monotonous.

On the bus ride I met met a vibrant, witty, incredibly brilliant woman.
I feel like a vibrant, productive person now.
