- In 1846, the first official baseball game was played between the New York Baseball club and the Knickerbockers.
- In 1905, the first nickelodeon theatre opened in Pittsburgh. It was named so b/c it cost a nickel to get in.
- In 1910, the first Father's Day celebration occurred in Spokane, Washington. Father's Day is now recognized in more than 52 countries.
- In 1941, Cheerios Cereal created the O-shape.
- In 1987, Ben & Jerry's released the flavor Cherry Garcia and it still goes strong today as a favorite flavor.
- Famous Birthdays: Kathleen Turner, actress; Paula Abdul, singer; Lou Gehrig, baseball player
