  1. In 0452, Italy was invaded by Attila the Hun.
  2. In 1786, commercial ice cream was manufactured for the first time.
  3. In 1915, Secretary of State to President Wilson, William Jennings Bryan quits .
  4. In 1940, the discovery of element 93, neptunium, is announced.
  5. In 1953, the Supreme Court forbid lunch counters to be segregated Washington, DC.
  6. In 1961, a major-league baseball record was set when four Milwaukee Braves batters hit consecutive home runs in the seventh inning of a game against the Cincinnati Reds.
  7. In 1969 , Yankee Stadium in New York City was sold out and Mickey Mantle, Number 7, formally retired from baseball.
  8. In 1975 USSR launches Venera 9 for a Venus landing.
  9. In 1991 - A victory parade was held to honor veterans of the Persian Gulf War in Washington, DC.
  10. In 1998, The Discovery (U.S. space shuttle) pulled away from Mir, ending America's three-year partnership with Russia.
